Pst. Irene Mutembei
Sunday Service on the 31st day of May 2026
In this year of double harvest, God is calling us to understand and walk in the power of honour. Honour is not merely a feeling or occasional words; it is the value we place on someone, demonstrated through our attitude, choices, sacrifice, and actions.
The Lord declares in 1 Samuel 2:30 (NKJV): “Therefore the Lord God of Israel says: ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now the Lord says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.’”
God promises to honour those who honour Him. When we honour God, the blessing extends even to our families and households. Honouring God positions us for His reciprocal honour and opens the door to multiplied blessing.
Honour is becoming rare in our generation. We often honour celebrities, possessions, or convenience more than God and His principles. Many choose what feels convenient over commitment — preferring online streams instead of gathering in fellowship, even though there is unique power in corporate worship and presence.
In Malachi 1:6 (NKJV), God asks a piercing question: “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts to you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’”
God is not primarily seeking religious routines but genuine honour expressed through sacrifice and obedience. Honour forms the foundation of an intimate relationship with Him. When honour diminishes and familiarity with God increases, obedience declines.
Honour God above all. Recognise His worth and respond with respect, humility, obedience, and sacrifice. As we do so, He promises to honour us in return, releasing the double harvest He has declared for this season.
Application Examine your life and ask honestly: Where is the honour due to God as your Father? Commit to honouring Him consistently through your attitude, choices, obedience, and sacrificial actions rather than mere convenience or religious habit. Place high value on His presence, His Word, and His house, refusing familiarity that leads to declining obedience. In this year of double harvest, prioritise honouring God above all else so that He may honour you, extend blessings to your household, and multiply His favour in every area of your life.
