Rev. Gerrald Kimathi Sunday Service on the 3rd day of May 2026
In this year of double harvest, God is calling us to a deeper level of fruitfulness. For a tree or a vine to produce more and better fruit, it must undergo pruning. The same principle applies to our lives. God, as the Master Gardener, prunes us not to harm us but to prepare us for greater productivity and multiplied blessing.
Jesus explains this clearly in John 15:1-2 (NKJV): “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”
Pruning involves the removal of what appears useful but actually hinders greater growth — dead wood, excess leaves, or branches that drain energy without producing fruit. In our lives, this may mean the removal of certain relationships, habits, comforts, distractions, or even good things that prevent us from reaching maximum potential. Though pruning can feel painful and uncomfortable, it is an act of love designed to channel our strength into fruitful areas.
God prunes areas of pride, self-reliance, ungodly attachments, and anything that competes with our dependence on Him. He cuts away bitterness, unforgiveness, and wrong mindsets so that His life can flow freely through us. Just as a farmer prunes a fruit tree in preparation for a bountiful season, the Lord is preparing His people for double harvest. The process may involve delays, closed doors, loss, or refining fire, but the outcome is greater fruitfulness — in character, ministry, family, finances, and influence.
Do not resist the pruning hand of God. Submit to His process, trusting that He knows exactly what needs to be removed and what needs to remain. Those who yield to pruning will bear much fruit and experience the fullness of the double harvest He has declared.
Application Willingly submit to God’s pruning process, recognising that He removes what hinders greater fruitfulness even when it feels uncomfortable. Allow Him to cut away distractions, wrong attachments, pride, and anything that drains your spiritual energy so that His life can flow freely through you. Embrace seasons of refining and delay as preparation rather than punishment, trusting the Master Gardener’s loving hand. Stay connected to Christ the True Vine through obedience and intimacy, positioning yourself to bear much fruit and walk in multiplied blessing in this year of double harvest.
